The special traditions of the Azerbaijani food culture

Azerbaijani culture is the combination of hospitality, culture, modernity and traditions. You are welcomed and warmly greeted everywhere you go. Food plays an important role in Azerbaijani culture. Eating together is especially important here. Sharing food with somebody builds a special ties. Azerbaijanis are hospitable and take this very seriously. If offered food, you can’t refuse, otherwise they will be perceived as rude. Even you are not hungry, you should take a small piece on your plate to taste. Azerbaijani cuisine has a lot of variety and unique tastes. Azerbaijan has traditional and an age – old cuisine. Cooking in tandoor and in copper utensils gives a unique and distinctive aroma. The majority of national food is cooked from mutton, beef and poultry. Commonly used ingredients are saffron, sumakh, pomegranate, fresh basil, coriander and dill. National cuisine can tell many interesting things about the culture and history of a country, and in this sense, Azerbaijani cuisine with its excellent taste and quality characteristics, as it were, speaks for itself.
