We read and heard a lot about Mohenjodaro and recently saw it for a real life. Here we were met by a guide, his name is Javid Shaik. Our guide was very knowledgeable, highly educated tour operator and an excellent tourist guide.
First we visited the Mohenjodaro museum. The museum is located about 200 meters from the main archeological site of Mohenjodaro. The museum is simple and elegant, with very simple equipment, but it contains some of Pakistan’s most valuable artifacts. The Mohenjodaro museum has a collection of copper and clay items, this shows that the inhabitants of Mohenjodaro were the best craftsmen, who laid the foundation of Indus civilization in this region.
During the excavations were found, cutlery, toys, various artifacts, tools, jewelry, idols, animal bones and teeth, clay jugs, copper-bronze objects, a bull cart, metal and stone objects, ceramics, measuring objects, “Priest King” figure, “Dancing girl” figure and etc.
Then Javid showed us the archaeological site of the great Indus civilization Mohenjodaro.
The Indus Valley Civilization is the oldest known Indian subcontinental civilization, dating back nearly 5000 years. Civilization was first discovered in 1922 at Mohenjodaro (Mound of the dead), later designated as a UNESCO world Heritage Site in 1980.
Many unsolved mysteries keeps a thousand year history of Mohenjodaro. This ancient city is located on the territory of modern Pakistan, up and down the Indus River. Mohenjodaro archaeological excavations showed that the city of Indus civilization was technologically advanced for its time. Many houses had sewers and bathrooms. The city was well-planned. The people who lived in Mohenjodaro had trade, religious and cultural ties with the Sumerians, Akkadians and Egyptians.
If you want to visit Mohenjodaro, you must know, that this is not a small place of ruins, but an ancient metropolis, which is extensive in its length. This ancient site has five large zones that are part of the ancient city. Each zone in Mohenjodaro has a rich and unique feature. And to create correct image and great city concept, you should see it in its entirely.
