There is an ancient cemetery with a large area near Hazra village of Gabala.  What is of great interest to those who visit this place is that the villages located near the cemetery with such a large area are small.

Elman Mammadov, the guide of the cemetery, told Sputnik Azerbaijan, that the size of the cemetery does not match the population of the settlements.  This is a sign that there was once an ancient settlement in that area.

According to Elman Mammadov, Doctor of History Mashadikhanim Nematova conducted a small research here during the Soviet Union. According to the villager, the result of the research is currently unknown to anyone:

“For this reason, it is not known what date the graves in the cemetery belong to. The jars found during excavation work in the area prove that there was an ancient settlement here. “According to the resident of the village, in the recent past, when a canal was being dug near the village, large jars came out from under the ground: “Maybe they were food jars. It’s true that the excavator broke them. Sometimes jars with human bones also come out. During the Soviet era, there were tobacco fields there. We witnessed them when we diverted the water, blocked it and turned it into ditches. Jars with human bones. Jar graves age 3  – It testifies to the existence of human habitation dating back to 4 thousand years ago. It should be noted that there are two mass graves on the territory of the cemetery, as well as graves with keys, scissors and other symbols.
