The National Carpet Museum of Azerbaijan is a magical world of colors and patterns, where each woven thread tells a separate historical story. Visitors here are immersed in the mysterious world of Azerbaijani carpet weaving, where the uniqueness of the carvings and the deep meaning hidden in them captivate each viewer.
Karabakh carpets are famous for their sophistication, beauty, color harmony and large-scale weaving. These works of art bring to life national legends and epic tales, such as the stories of “Rustam and Suhrub” and Mullah Nasreddin, peeking through the museum walls.
Famous artist, professor Muhammad Hossein Hosseinov emphasized the uniqueness of Azerbaijani carpet weaving, noting that Karabakh carpet weaving is one of the four main schools, which in turn is divided into three groups: Shusha, Jibrail and Karabakh. These carpets are characterized by dense weaving, bright colors, as well as historical and cultural symbols.
According to Huseynov, Karabakh carpets are known for their unique patterns and characteristic colors such as red, blue, green and yellow. These carpets are kept in various museums around the world, but the largest collection of these carpets is in the National Carpet Museum of Azerbaijan.
In 2010, through the efforts of the First Lady of Azerbaijan and head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, Azerbaijani carpet weaving was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, which ensured this art worldwide recognition and measures to protect it.

The National Carpet Museum plays a key role in preserving and researching this traditional art, where rare carpets from different regions of the country are kept. Today, Karabakh carpets are gaining international fame, and significant work is being done to revive the ancient traditions of carpet weaving.
These carpets, which are passed down from generation to generation, are a priceless treasure of the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan.
