Home to a number of diversified cultural entities, the people are known for their family values and ethics. The land is also known for its fruits – scrumptious apricots, peaches, mulberries, apples and honey-dew melons.

TASTES OF GILGIT-BALTISTAN

MAMTU:

Mamtu (Mantu) is a cuisine from Gilgit-Baltistan. They are little dumplings which are used as perfect starters. Mantu are steam boiled dish which is filled with chopped meat, onions and vegetables all mixed with spices and wrapped in dough. They’re served with yogurt and vinegar, black pepper and chili sauce.

CHAPSHORO

CHAPSHORO:

“Chap” means meat, ” Gunsho” means onions and “shoro” means bread. It is a delicacy found in the Hunza Valley in Gilgit, Baltistan which is situated in the northern mountainous region of Pakistan. This dish is considered as the pizza of the North which consists of bread filled with a mixture of minced meat, spices and herbs.
